A hit landing on a metal shield: a hard metallic clang with a short ring, with a soft low thud underneath as the impact is absorbed. Use it for blocking, parrying, or deflecting a projectile. Bright on top, heavy underneath, so it reads as "that hurt but it held".
clang: three detuned squares at 1240 / 1866 / 2480 Hz (a fifth and an octave above the fundamental), 300 ms, each with a 2 ms attack and 45 ms time constant body: sine falling 232 Hz -> 96 Hz over 90 ms (136 Hz of drop on top of a 96 Hz floor) spark: white noise 26 ms, high-pass 3.4 kHz, at 40% level, right at the onset low-pass 6 kHz to take the harshness off the squares soft clip (tanh 1.8) so the three squares fuse into one hit instead of a chord envelope: 1 ms attack, 26 ms decay on the spark, 45 ms time constant on the ring (down to about -58 dB before the buffer ends)
